Skydance’s David Ellison tells CNBC combined company is ‘positioned to win in every single vertical’
David Ellison said the combined company will merge Paramount+ and HBO Max while meeting theater-release commitments tied to the acquisition settlement.
On Thursday, Skydance CEOs David Ellison and Ynon Kreiz joined CNBC's David Faber for an interview days after the acquisition of WBD officially closed on Tuesday.
CEO David Ellison described the merger as a solution for media companies that "didn't pivot fast enough" when Silicon Valley disrupted the industry a decade ago.
As part of an antitrust settlement, the combined entity must release at least 30 films annually in 2027 and 2028, and at least 32 films in 2028, 2030 and 2031.
CEOs David Ellison and Ynon Kreiz plan to split executive duties, with Ellison focusing on creative strategy while Kreiz leads integration and day-to-day operations, including merging streaming services.
The combined company includes CBS, CNN, TNT, MTV, and BET, with executives building a tech organization designed to compete with Silicon Valley across their expanded portfolio.
