Ski club unveils state-of-art training facility in Vernon

- SSFC raised $470,000 to construct the site, eliminating the need for athletes to travel to Oregon, Quebec, or Europe for off-season training. The project combines government funding, regional grants, and community contributions.
- A state-of-the-art landing airbag featuring a 60-metre dry-slope in-run allows intermediate and expert athletes to practice complex aerial maneuvers. The facility operates from May through October, extending the training season to simulate on-snow conditions.
- Creating a "permanent legacy," SSFC president Carson Dorward said, the facility allows young skiers and snowboarders to "pursue their ambitions" without leaving the Okanagan. It serves as a progression centre for all levels.
- SilverStar general manager Herwig Demschar noted the resort's commitment to supporting local clubs through the partnership. The facility positions the mountain as a leading destination for year-round freestyle training for the next generation of athletes.
