Sir Tom Jones breaks silence over The Voice UK exit rumours and says he was "fired"
On Tuesday, Sir Tom Jones announced he was fired from The Voice, claiming ITV cited 'financial difficulty with insurance' as the reason for his departure after 13 years.
ITV claimed they wanted to 'refresh' the show with a new coaching line-up, leaving no chair for Jones; he was offered a 'much-reduced role' he said he was 'not thrilled' about.
The 86-year-old singer wrote on social media: 'To be clear, I did not want to leave The Voice,' adding there is 'never a good time to fire an 86-year-old who's still pretty good at his job.'
Despite the firing, a Press Association source reported ITV remains 'hopeful' the singer will return; meanwhile, reports suggest rappers Aitch and singer Cheryl Tweedy could replace Jones on the coaching panel.
Production for the 2027 series begins shortly, continuing a show that has featured coaches including McFly members Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones, Will.i.am, and Kelly Rowland alongside Jones over its tenure.
