Singapore Airlines to roll out Starlink’s broadband service on select aircraft from early 2027

The service will be unlimited and complimentary, with Starlink speeds expected to support streaming, gaming and large-file transfers across all cabin classes.

  • Singapore Airlines announced on May 4 that it will progressively introduce Starlink LEO broadband on Airbus A350-900 and A380 aircraft, with the rollout beginning in the first quarter of 2027 through end-2029.
  • Passengers currently face restrictions on existing Wi-Fi, which excludes streaming apps like Netflix, Disney, and YouTube, while service remains unavailable about 15 minutes after take-off and before arrival.
  • Starlink utilizes more than 10,000 LEO satellites to beam data, supporting up to 1 Gbps per antenna, delivering significantly faster, lower-lag internet compared to traditional GEO systems.
  • Unlimited, complimentary Wi-Fi will be available to Customers in all cabin classes—Suites, First Class, Business Class, and Economy—on Starlink-equipped flights, following recent adoptions by Qatar Airways and Emirates.
  • Joining British Airways and Virgin Atlantic, Mr Yeoh Phee Teik, Singapore Airlines' Senior Vice President Customer Experience, said "Starlink will take this to the next level" by enabling seamless connectivity throughout flights.
