Simu Liu Was 'Overwhelmed with Emotion' at Wedding to Allison Hsu
The couple shared ceremony details, including a reading by Woody Harrelson and a first dance to Etta James, after nearly four years together.
- Actor Simu Liu, 37, married Allison Hsu at Château d'Estoublon in Provence, France, the weekend of Oct. 3, opening up to Vogue about their "perfect" wedding in an interview published Tuesday, Oct. 13.
- The couple, together for nearly four years, first met at a mutual friend's Fourth of July barbecue in 2022. They announced their engagement in May 2025, with Liu writing that he chose her "forever and always."
- During the ceremony, Woody Harrelson read Reverend Daniel Harris' "Blessing of the Hands," while Hsu honored her heritage in a gown by Taiwanese label Nicole + Felicia. Liu wore Asian-Canadian-founded Garrison Bespoke.
- At the reception, Renee Rapp performed Etta James' "At Last" for the couple's first dance, while Liu's co-star Benedict Wong later appeared as his musical alter ego, DJ Obi-Wong, to continue the party.
- Liu felt his late grandparents, Yeye and Nainai, were "sending reassurance" when rain cleared just before the ceremony. "The rainfall just before our ceremony was the most convinced I have ever been that something greater exists beyond our comprehension," Liu said.
