The Brazilian Congress unanimously approved the measure extending parental leave from five to twenty days, a significant advance for family reconciliation.
The draft law (5811/2025), which extends parental leave for 20 days was approved on this Thursday (4), in the Senate, and now depends on the presidential penalty. The Brazilian Congress unanimously approved this Wednesday to increase the duration of paternity leave from the current five days to twenty. The measure, voted in the Senate after passing previously by the Chamber of Deputies, must now be sanctioned by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
