Sid Meier's Civilization VII Announces First Expansion: Earthrise
The paid expansion adds solar system missions, new civil engineering tools, and climate defenses across every Age, Firaxis said.
At PAX West, Firaxis Games and 2K announced three major updates for Civilization VII, including Update 1.5.0, the Arc of Tomorrow free update, and Earthrise, the game's first paid expansion.
Arriving later this month, Update 1.5.0 marks the 35th Anniversary celebration with the True Start Location Earth map, faster generation, diplomacy tweaks, and UI upgrades for the strategy game.
Launching in 2027, the free Arc of Tomorrow update adds the Atomic Age with expanded nuclear gameplay, modern urban architecture, and the return of leader Gandhi to the franchise.
Titled Earthrise, the first paid expansion focuses on the space race, enabling players to launch orbital missions around the Moon and deploy new civil engineering tools for environmental management.
Players can sign up to playtest Arc of Tomorrow content through the Firaxis Feature Workshop later this year, with the full release scheduled for 2027.
