The American star said Andreeva was a diva and said she had lost respect for coach Conchita Martínez after a hot-mic recording.
- On Thursday, November 5, 2026, tennis star Jessica Pegula was recorded on a hot mic during WTA Finals training calling 19-year-old rival Mirra Andreeva a "diva" who "needs to be humbled."
- Andreeva has gained a reputation for fiery on-court outbursts, including smashing rackets and snapping at officials during tournaments like Wimbledon, where she left the court in tears after losing to Barbora Krejcikova.
- Pegula also stated she has "lost respect" for legendary Spanish player Conchita, who now coaches Andreeva, claiming the coach actively encourages the teenager's behavior.
- Following the comments, the 32-year-old American faced backlash, with critics pointing to her background as daughter of billionaire Terry Pegula, whose family owns the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres.
- While Andreeva won the French Open this year, Pegula remains focused on winning her first Grand Slam, a title she has yet to secure despite reaching the 2024 US Open final.
