PM Shehbaz Once Again Extends Olive Branch to Opposition for Economic, Democratic Stability
He said the government is ready for meaningful talks as it allocates Rs128 billion for fuel relief and cuts diesel prices by Rs32 per litre.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed the federal cabinet in Islamabad, renewing his invitation to the opposition for meaningful dialogue to resolve national matters and strengthen Pakistan's economy and democracy.
Sharif stated "it takes two to tango," emphasizing the government's commitment to negotiations while recalling his June proposal for a "Charter of democracy" to stabilize the country's institutions.
The renewal follows the Supreme Court ordering the government two days ago to move incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital, a longstanding opposition demand welcomed by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan.
During the same meeting, the cabinet approved the draft Defence Forces Act 2026 and amendments to the National Command Authority Act 2010, following constitutional changes introduced through the 27th Constitutional Amendment.
Beyond political matters, the government reported an 18 per cent increase in IT exports for July 2026 and welcomed Google opening an office to support Pakistan's digital transformation.
