Shark Breach Caught on Video Near California Coast as Officials Issue Warning to Beachgoers
California State Parks warned beachgoers to stay out of the water after cameras recorded a breach and officials said sharks are migrating through the area.
On Saturday, a shark breached off Marina State Beach, prompting California State Parks to issue a shark advisory for the area.
Officials noted that sharks commonly migrate to the Central Coast during the fall and winter, increasing the likelihood of sightings in the region.
Erin King, a Salinas Valley resident, captured video of the breach around 12:30 p.m. while filming a group of sisters on the beach.
State Parks confirmed the activity via cameras at 12:26 p.m., though officials could not confirm if the shark was the same one filmed by King.
Beachgoers are urged to use caution, stay alert, and notify park personnel immediately if they see a shark in or near the water.
