Sharing Rockstar emails on Discord was 'egregious breach' of policy, tribunal told
Rockstar says 34 workers were fired for sharing confidential emails on Discord, while 23 former staff challenge the dismissals as unfair.
On Monday, former employee Dayne Oram testified at a Glasgow tribunal regarding their dismissal from Rockstar Games, one of 23 former staff challenging the company over alleged unfair dismissal.
Twenty-Three workers are now suing through the Independent Workers' Union of Great Britain , claiming they were unfairly targeted for union involvement rather than policy breaches.
Lawyer Thomas Cordrey argued that posting internal emails in a 350-member Discord group, including 10 former employees, breached Rockstar's information-handling policies and created security vulnerabilities.
Oram disputed the misconduct allegations, asserting that a "culture of fear" at Rockstar prompted excessive caution and that sharing emails was necessary for union activities.
The tribunal continues before Judge Lucy Wiseman, with Rockstar maintaining the dismissals were solely for "gross misconduct" and denying all claims the action targeted union membership.
