Shai Gilgeous-Alexander enters European football ownership with Atlético de Madrid
The reigning two-time NBA MVP is adding European soccer ownership while continuing offseason work to help Oklahoma City defend its title.
Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander recently became a stakeholder in Spanish soccer club Atlético Madrid, though the reigning two-time NBA MVP remains fully invested in leading the Thunder to another title.
Over the summer, Gilgeous-Alexander devoted his time to increasing his versatility on both ends of the floor and taking his conditioning up yet another notch, demonstrating commitment to the team.
The Thunder remain deep with headliners Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams, with Nuggets coach David Adelman saying, "To me, when they're healthy, that's the best team in the league."
Facing stiff competition in the Northwest Division, Oklahoma City must contend with the Nikola Jokic-led Denver Nuggets and the Anthony Edwards-powered Minnesota Timberwolves after their Game 7 loss to San Antonio.
"This group, we understand what it takes to win," Gilgeous-Alexander said, as the team prepares for the grueling season ahead with sharpened individual and collective focus.
