Seven people killed in multi-vehicle chain collision in Karnataka
Seven people, including six college students, died when a high-speed SUV collided with a motorcycle and truck, triggering a chain crash on a national highway, police said.
- Bengaluru Rural police said seven people died in a chain crash around 4:40 a.m. near M Satyavara village on the Hoskote–Dabaspete National Highway.
- An XUV 700 travelling from Hoskote reportedly first struck a motorcycle from behind and then hit a canter truck, ripping off two rear wheels and overturning it.
- Police identified the two-wheeler rider as Gagan and one car occupant as Ashwin Nair, 17, with other named SUV occupants including Arhan, Ayan and Bharath.
- An NHAI patrolling team alerted jurisdictional police, who registered a case and shifted bodies to Hoskote Government Hospital for post-mortem, officials said.
- Police said investigations will probe the driver's alleged high speed and possible intoxication while tracing the movements and identifying the three remaining unidentified victims.
