STM is investigating the fall after first responders could not revive the man, and police said no criminal activity is suspected.
On the weekend, a man in his 40s died after falling onto the tracks at the Lionel-Groulx station in Montreal. The incoming train could not stop in time to avoid the collision.
Authorities in Montreal confirmed the death appeared accidental, noting surveillance video showed the man was not pushed and no criminal activity was involved.
A 911 call reporting the fall was made around 11 a.m. Pierre-Luc Lefran, a spokesperson for Urgences-Sant, confirmed that first responders were unable to resuscitate the victim at the scene.
Renaud Martel-Th, a spokesperson for The STM, stated that the agency is investigating the specific factors that led to the fall. The STM also offered its deepest condolences to the victim's family.
To prevent future accidents, The STM is reminding transit users to stay behind the yellow platform lines and maintain a safe distance from trains.
