Brent Swadley Receives Suspended Sentence, Must Pay Restitution on Charges of Fraud Against State
Prosecutors said Swadley’s chain received $16.7 million before the contract was canceled, and the state sought 10 years in prison.
On Thursday, Oklahoma County District Judge Cindy Truong sentenced restaurant owner Brent Swadley to a six-year suspended sentence, sparing him prison time for fraud convictions involving state park restaurant operations.
A jury convicted Swadley in May 2026 of conspiracy and presenting fraudulent claims after prosecutors alleged he inflated invoices while operating Swadley's Foggy Bottom Kitchen at six state parks.
The sentence mandates Swadley pay $1.2 million in restitution and a $50,000 fine, with 160 community service hours due by December 1, 2027.
Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond criticized the ruling, alleging the judge "invited fraudsters like Brent Swadley to injure Oklahoma with impunity" by disregarding jury recommendations.
Swadley plans to appeal the conviction, though he remains a convicted felon subject to potential prison time if he violates the terms of his six-year suspended probation.
