Stock Markets Rebound over 1% on Fed Pause, but Rupee and Crude Keep Investors on Edge
Banking and FMCG buying lifted the benchmark after foreign and domestic investors added nearly ₹1,515 crore in shares, exchange data showed.
On Thursday, October 29, 2026, the benchmark BSE Sensex surged 905.01 points, or 1.24%, to close at 74,151.04, while the NSE Nifty50 rose 237.90 points, or 1.05%, to 22,936.75.
Equities rallied as the Federal Reserve kept its key rate unchanged at about 3.9% on Wednesday, while Brent crude fell 1.18% to $113.96 per barrel, easing energy cost pressures.
Adani Ports emerged as the top gainer, rising over 5% after reporting an 18% increase in consolidated net profit to ₹3,682.44 crore, while Trent and HDFC Bank trailed as laggards.
Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Investments, noted that recent buying by Foreign Institutional Investors and DIIs improved market liquidity and signaled healthier breadth across sectors.
Near-Term momentum will depend on domestic earnings breadth and sustained foreign flows, Nair said, as global inflation trends and international central bank policies continue influencing capital flows.
Investors have earned a lot of money in the stock market today. The Sensex closed by 900 points, while the Nifty has seen an increase of 238 points. Some stocks have made great jumps during this upswing.
