Aftershocks continue following the 5.1 magnitude earthquake that struck Sındırgı, Balıkesir last night. Most recently, two more earthquakes, measuring 4.1 and 4.2 magnitude, occurred today at 10:34 AM, just 10 seconds apart, with their epicenters also in the Sındırgı district.
Prof. Dr. Hasan Sözbilir, Director of the DEÜ Earthquake Research Center, stated that the 5.1 magnitude earthquake in Sındırgı, Balıkesir, is consistent with the seismic patterns that have been monitored in the region for a long time.
Following the 5.1 magnitude earthquake in Sındırgı, Balıkesir, seismologist Prof. Dr. Şener Üşümezsoy issued warnings. Üşümezsoy drew attention to the risk that could arise if the earthquakes in this region were to trigger a new fault.
