On the 26th, the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) selected former Minister of State for the Olympics and Sports, Senator Seiko Hashimoto (60), as its new president. Ms. Hashimoto was elected at a board meeting in Tokyo. She will be the first female president, and her term of office will be two years.
