In a couple of blocks in Skellefteå, house after house stands ghostly empty. They are being demolished to make way for the Norrbotniabanan railway – but demolition has not yet begun. Imre Holmqvist, 19, grew up in one of them. “It looks like everyone just ran away from here,” he says when he returns to the area where he grew up.
