Man Dies in Scuba Diving Incident Off Whytecliff Park in West Vancouver
Police say multiple agencies responded before the 50-year-old diver was declared dead at the scene, with no suspicious circumstances found.
A 50-year-old man died yesterday after a scuba diving incident off Whytecliff Park in West Vancouver, with West Vancouver Police receiving distress reports shortly before 1:30 p.m.
Multiple emergency agencies including West Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services, B.C. Emergency Health Services, and the Canadian Coast Guard mobilized after the initial distress call.
Despite rapid response from multiple agencies, the 50-year-old man was declared deceased at the scene by emergency personnel.
West Vancouver Police determined there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, and the victim's family has been notified.
Victim Services is available at 604-925-7468 for those affected by Sunday's incident, while a 66-year-old man died Wednesday off Gabriola Island on Vancouver Island in a separate scuba diving incident.
