Scotland Locks Brown and Cummings Out of Six Nations Showdown with Ireland
Four replacements join Scotland squad after six players ruled out injured ahead of their final Six Nations match against Ireland, with Brown and Cummings sidelined for weeks, Scottish Rugby Union said.
- The Scottish Rugby Union said on Monday that Scotland will be without locks Gregor Brown and Scott Cummings for this weekend's Six Nations clash with Ireland, and head coach Gregor Townsend has called up four players to replace six injured squad members.
- During the 50-40 win over France, Gregor Brown and Scott Cummings went off injured at Murrayfield with calf and hamstring issues, returning to their clubs for assessment alongside Adam Hastings, Nathan McBeth, Elliot Millar Mills and Duhan van der Merwe.
- Euan Ferrie and Alex Samuel were drafted in as lock cover; Ferrie is uncapped while Samuel has never featured in a Six Nations, and prop Alec Hepburn and winger Arron Reed also joined the squad.
- Ireland must beat Scotland in Dublin and hope England upset France to keep their title hopes alive, while Scotland seek a first win over Ireland since 2017 this final day of the Six Nations.
- Several call-ups, including Alec Hepburn, Arron Reed, and Euan Ferrie, have recent Scotland A experience, and injuries mean Townsend's squad is expected to be out for weeks.
