- The conflict began on Republic Day, January 26, when Kumar intervened to support Muslim shopkeeper Vakil Ahmed, whom Bajrang Dal members were harassing for using the word 'Baba' in his shop's name.
- Senior Advocate Abhishek Singhvi argued before the apex court that rioting charges were inapplicable, asking, "How can a good samaritan be subjected to this kind of a complaint?" regarding the viral incident.
- A bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta also stayed the Uttarakhand High Court's previous order, which had restrained Kumar from posting on social media regarding the case.
- The Supreme Court posted the matter for further hearing after four weeks, seeking responses from the Uttarakhand government regarding the petition filed by the gym operator.
