Galaxy Settle for Draw with Dynamo Before World Cup Break
Joseph Paintsil and Guilherme Santos each scored in the first half as the Dynamo ended a club-record 13-match run without a draw.
On Saturday, the Los Angeles Galaxy and Houston Dynamo played to a 1-1 draw at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif., in the final match before the six-week FIFA World Cup break.
Galaxy forward Joseph Paintsil staked the home side to a lead in the 30th minute, but Dynamo midfielder Guilherme Santos answered in the 41st minute with a long-distance blast from outside the 18-yard box.
Former Galaxy goalkeeper Jonathan Bond recorded five saves in the second half, denying Los Angeles while Houston forward Lawrence Ennali nearly secured a win with a 74th-minute shot that just missed the left post.
Galaxy coach Greg Vanney said, "I thought we had more of them," as the draw left his team with 20 points entering the FIFA World Cup break in ninth place in the Western Conference.
The Galaxy return to action on July 17 against LAFC after the six-week hiatus, with the transfer window opening July 13, just four days before their comeback.
