New Zealand's Santner Out for a Month with Shoulder Injury
New Zealand Cricket said scans showed a grade three shoulder injury, and he will miss Tests against Ireland and England.
On Friday, New Zealand white-ball captain Mitchell Santner was ruled out for at least one month after specialists confirmed a "grade three ACL shoulder injury" following his return from Mumbai Indians.
Santner sustained the injury while taking a catch for Mumbai Indians against Chennai Super Kings on April 23, then returned home to New Zealand earlier this week to seek specialist consultation.
Previously, Santner led New Zealand to the T20 World Cup final against India, scoring 120 runs and taking two wickets while requesting "slightly extended time for personal reasons" before joining the franchise late.
New Zealand Cricket announced Santner is unavailable for the one-off Test against Ireland in late May and the first Test against England at Lord's in early June, with later matches to be evaluated.
Selectors will name the squad for the Ireland and England series "in the coming days" while Santner begins rehabilitation, having previously skipped the Bangladesh white-ball tour due to his IPL commitments.
