Santa Cruz on Wednesday celebrated the full reopening of its historic wharf following a $1.3 million storm damage repair project. The pier dates back to 1914, but 200 feet of the famed pier crumbled into the ocean during a series of storms in 2024. A restaurant, restroom facilities and hundreds of pilings were washed down the shoreline, and several workers had to be rescued. The repairs made the pier slightly shorter.
