Sanofi lifts expectations for 2026 sales growth, looks to M&A
The French drugmaker raised sales and profit forecasts after Dupixent beat expectations and said larger acquisitions may be needed to fill its pipeline.
- On Friday, Sanofi raised its annual sales growth forecast to a "low-teens percentage," up from 10%, banking on strong demand for its blockbuster asthma drug Dupixent.
- The company reported third-quarter business operating income of €5.43 billion, exceeding analyst expectations of €4.32 billion, with total sales reaching €14.44 billion, up 14.3% at constant exchange rates.
- CEO Belen Garijo, who began a strategic review in May, confirmed dealmaking is critical to replenishing the drug pipeline following trial setbacks last year.
- CFO François Roger said the company has about €20 billion in deal-making firepower and will pursue acquisitions larger than its historical €2 billion to €5 billion range.
- Analysts believe M&A is necessary to secure experimental drugs before 2027, when late-stage trial data is expected, as Sanofi seeks to maintain profitable growth.
