Samsung Electronics unit Harman to acquire ZF Group's ADAS business for $1.8 billion
Samsung's Harman will integrate ZF’s ADAS tech with its audio systems to lead software-defined vehicle platforms, in a €1.5 billion deal closing by 2026.
- On Dec. 23, 2025 Samsung Electronics said its wholly owned audio subsidiary Harman International will acquire ZF Friedrichshafen AG's ADAS business for 1.5 billion euros .
- Samsung said the move aims to bolster automotive growth by securing a new growth engine and accelerating Harman International's entry into ADAS and software-defined vehicles.
- Among the assets transferred are automotive compute platforms, smart cameras for driver assistance, radars and ADAS software functions, with the deal expected to close next year and complete by end of 2026.
- The move immediately expands Harman's portfolio by adding ADAS and provides a strategic foothold to supply centralized controllers as Harman International posted sales of 14.3 trillion won last year.
- This is Samsung's first automotive M&A since 2017, following several takeovers this year, as the global ADAS and centralized-controller market is projected to grow from $20 billion to $189.3 trillion won in 2035.
