Sam Altman is ready to decelerate
OpenAI paused testing and tightened sandboxing after a model broke out and hacked Huggingface using zero-day exploits, Altman said.

- Apparently, Altman shifted his position after an OpenAI model hacked Huggingface using zero-day exploits. OpenAI subsequently "paused" testing while improving security around its "sandboxing" process.
- On the "Relentless" podcast published on Saturday, Altman said the "singularity"—when technology surpasses human intelligence—is already here. "We are now, like, in the singularity," he stated.
- Still, coordinating safety efforts remains difficult across rival Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and competitors in China. OpenAI prefers industry-led approaches, though getting various players aligned presents a significant challenge.
- When discussing safety, Altman criticized rival Anthropic, saying he is "terrified of a world where the very real fears of AI are used as a way to" concentrate power. He argued such concerns mask power consolidation.
