Saints GM Loomis in Paris addresses criticism from team owner amid slow start to season
Loomis said the Saints are a young team and asked for patience after Benson said the front office must build a roster for sustained success.
On Wednesday, New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis addressed owner Gayle Benson's recent criticism, asking for patience with what he called a "young developing team" preparing for Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Benson's criticism followed the Saints' 1-4 start, when she stated she would "not accept this level of performance" and assigned roster responsibility to Loomis and player preparation duties to coach Kellen Moore.
Following a 34-27 victory over the New York Giants, the Saints hold a 2-4 record. Loomis noted that Moore is just 22 games into his coaching career.
Regarding the team's development timeline, Loomis stated regarding young players, "Come talk to me in three or four years," while acknowledging a desire for faster results without limiting the timeframe.
As the team prepares in Versailles for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Loomis stated he understands the need to be "a little uncomfortable" as the organization works toward consistent success.
