Armed police officers left bag of guns outside Sadiq Khan's home
Five frontline officers were suspended after a bag containing a submachine gun, a pistol, a Taser and ammunition was left outside the mayor’s home, police said.
- On Tuesday, armed police officers guarding London Mayor Sadiq Khan left a bag containing a Heckler & Koch submachine gun, a Glock pistol, and a Taser outside his home.
- Scaffolder Jordan Griffiths discovered the bag while walking with his pregnant partner in London, later saying he was in "shock" after opening it.
- Inside the bag were a Heckler & Koch submachine gun, a Glock pistol, and a Taser with ammunition. Griffiths noted it was "lucky one of the guns inside didn't go off" given his partner's pregnancy.
- Five officers have been temporarily suspended from frontline duties while the Met Police's Directorate of Professional Standards reviews the incident.
- Met Police officials recovered the items within seven minutes of the call, stating they are "urgently reviewing the circumstances of this incident and recognise the concern it may cause.
