Ryan Lee selected by Republicans to take Herringshaw’s place on ballot for county commissioner seat – BG Independent News

The Wood County Republican Central Committee this evening selected Ryan Lee to fill the opening left when Republican Doris Herringshaw withdrew from the race for Wood County Commissioner last week. Lee was one of nine applicants for the position on the ballot, according to Cindy Hofner, chair of the Wood County Republican Party. He will face Democratic county commissioner contender Brenna Reynolds, a Rossford City Council member currently serving her second term, and Independent Joe DeMare of Bowling Green. The three candidates will be on the Nov. 3 ballot. Lee, 50, lives in Jerry City. He currently serves as assistant superintendent at Penta Career Center. He holds a master of arts in educational leadership and administration from Bowling Green State University. Lee’s civic service includes 24 years of leadership with the Central Joint Fire District, where he is an active firefighter and former assistant fire chief. He previously served on the Elmwood Board of Education, plus served as mayor and council member in Jerry City. He currently serves on the board of the Northwestern Water and Sewer District. Wood County Commissioner Doris Herringshaw announced last week that a need to prioritize her health led to her decision to withdraw as the Republican candidate for a fourth term as a county commissioner. Herringshaw said she plans to serve the final few months of her term as commissioner.
