Maharashtra: MPSC Paper Leak Case Accused Taken Into Custody by Crime Branch
Police say the accused candidate had received leaked questions before the exam and was told to miss 10 answers to avoid suspicion.
- On Tuesday, the Mumbai Crime Branch arrested Rituja Patil in Nandurbar in connection with the Maharashtra Public Service Commission Drug Inspector paper leak case, bringing the total accused to seven.
- Last week, authorities arrested six individuals, including three MPSC officials, for allegedly breaching confidentiality of the March 22 screening examination by circulating questions to unauthorized persons.
- The MPSC cancelled the entire Drug Inspector recruitment process under the Food and Drug Administration following reports of malpractice, affecting 488 candidates who completed interviews between July 1 and July 22.
- To ensure fairness and maintain candidate confidence, the commission decided to conduct a fresh examination for the posts, safeguarding the integrity and transparency of the recruitment process.
- Mumbai police registered the case under the Maharashtra Competitive Examination Act, 2024, and the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as investigations continue into the alleged breach.
