Russian drone strike in Ukraine's Kharkiv kills two, officials say
The drone attack hit a civilian business causing a fire; five people were hospitalized with serious injuries, local officials said.
On March 11, 2026, a Russian-launched drone struck a civilian business in Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, killing two and injuring five, local officials including Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said.
Kharkiv, located about 30 km from the Russian border, was encircled at the start of Russia's 2022 full-scale invasion four years ago and has since faced frequent air and drone attacks.
Kharkiv Regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov said several wounded civilians were in serious condition and receiving medical assistance, and the strike caused a fire at the civilian enterprise.
On the fourth anniversary this month, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for an immediate ceasefire as the United States pushes Kyiv and Moscow toward a stalled peace deal.
After hosting 17 Ukrainian defence technology companies earlier this week, Kyiv has offered drone help, with a team heading to the Gulf, Zelensky said, noting Ukraine's experience in countering attack drones.
