On July 16, 2001, China and Russia signed the "Treaty of Good Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation," sealing the rapprochement between the two powers after the collapse of the USSR. Twenty-five years later, the two countries are even more united by common interests, particularly due to the war in Ukraine, but their relationship remains sensitive to tensions and an increasingly structural imbalance.
