Brand Told Police 'Promiscuous' Celebrity Life 'Reframed'
Brand says his public sex life has been recast as rape and assault claims as he denies any non-consensual sexual activity.
On Tuesday at Southwark Crown Court, an allegation of indecent assault against Russell Brand was changed to a charge of attempted indecent assault, as the trial involving six women continues.
Prosecutors read prepared statements Brand gave during four police interviews held between September 2023 and July 2025, during which he insisted he 'never engaged in any non-consensual sexual activity.'
Barrister Ian Winter KC told the court Brand denies all non-consensual sex, arguing that claims from the six alleged victims have been 'reimagined' since accusations first emerged in 2023.
Brand characterized the 2023 documentary and newspaper reports as 'defamatory and fictitious,' claiming media and police invitations led to 'further incidents to be reinvented or reimagined.'
Describing his past interactions as 'friendly, consensual and warm,' Brand noted he routinely made provocative jokes while aware his actions could be publicly recorded and end up in tabloids.
