RTX's Pratt & Whitney GTF™ engines surpass 800 orders and commitments in 2026, year to date
Airlines and lessors have placed more than 800 orders and commitments this year, lifting total GTF backlog above 8,000 engines, Pratt & Whitney said.
- On Wednesday, Pratt & Whitney announced its GTF engines surpassed 800 orders and commitments year-to-date, bringing the total order backlog to more than 8,000 units.
- Farnborough International Airshow served as the backdrop for the announcement, reflecting strong market demand from airlines and lessors seeking fuel-efficient engines.
- Customers including British Airways, Finnair, and VietJet announced orders this year, contributing to more than 14,000 total GTF orders from more than 90 customers worldwide.
- "We see strong demand for the GTF engine," said Rick Deurloo, president of Commercial Engines at Pratt & Whitney, noting the GTF Advantage enters service later this year.
- The engine delivers up to 20% lower fuel consumption and a 75% smaller noise footprint; its geared architecture will accumulate more than 300 million hours by the mid-2030s.
