The parties of the political centre in Germany reject any cooperation with the far-right AfD. However, the concept often referred to as a firewall is increasingly under pressure.
The values look as if they are inconceivable: the AfD keeps its distance from the Union, the chancellor is low. At the same time, a majority believes in the continuation of the coalition – and opposes a cooperation between CDU and CSU with the AfD.
