Langley RCMP cruiser rammed during attempted traffic stop
The driver used stolen plates to evade ID and rammed an RCMP cruiser, forcing officers to evade before fleeing at high speed, Langley police said.
- On Wednesday, Langley RCMP says a driver intentionally rammed a marked police cruiser near Willowbrook Mall around 10:30 a.m. while officers responded to a suspicious vehicle at Willowbrook Drive and 198th Street, with emergency equipment activated.
- When officers arrived they found the driver slumped over the wheel, and as one officer attempted to wake him, the driver regained consciousness and intentionally rammed the cruiser, Langley RCMP said.
- Two RCMP officers had to quickly jump clear to avoid the suspect vehicle, which pushed their cruiser before fleeing westbound on Willowbrook Drive at high speed; no injuries were reported.
- Police urged the public to call Langley RCMP with information or dash-cam footage and said using a vehicle as a weapon is unacceptable while investigators work to identify suspects.
- Sgt. Zynal Sharoom said the incident was an "extremely dangerous situation" putting officers and members of the public at "significant risk," with The Canadian Press first publishing Dec. 24, 2025.
