RSPCA denies using AI after image of dozens of neglected dogs in living room branded fake

The charity said 87 dogs went to its care and the rest were signed over to Dogs Trust as it urged adoptions.

  • The RSPCA has denied that a viral Image showing hundreds of dogs was AI-generated, confirming the photo is real and documents a large-scale rescue of more than 250 animals from one property earlier this year.
  • RSPCA Superintendent Hirst explained the situation arose because an extremely vulnerable, elderly owner became overwhelmed, with conditions rapidly spiralling out of control amid complex family circumstances.
  • Last year, the charity responded to 4,200 incidents involving at least 10 animals across England and Wales, a 70% rise since 2021, demonstrating escalating large-scale neglect cases.
  • Radcliffe Animal Centre reported many dogs have made incredible progress since their rescue, though Eva and Teddy remain waiting for patient, understanding owners to continue their recovery.
  • To manage the influx, the charity launched its Spring Cash Appeal and is urging the public to consider Adopting, with families able to Find available pets on the RSPCA website.
