Garcia Exits Royals Game with Left Hamstring Injury
Garcia left after straining his left hamstring in the first inning and is likely headed back to the injured list after returning Monday.
On Thursday, Kansas City Royals third baseman Maikel Garcia strained his left hamstring during the first inning of the team's 6-2 victory over the Athletics.
Garcia had returned to the lineup just three days earlier, ending a nearly two-month absence following an injured list stint for a left hand muscle strain beginning June 23.
John Rave replaced Garcia in the second inning, shifting to right field while Nick Loftin moved to third base. Garcia had contributed 5 hits and 2 RBI through the first three games of the series.
Royals manager Matt Quatraro said Garcia underwent an MRI and is likely to return to the injured list, calling it a "Really tough break" for the player.
Teammate Bobby Witt Jr., who homered and scored three runs, added, "Anytime a guy's just coming back from an injury we hate to see that," expressing frustration over Garcia's setback.
The Kansas City Royals' ante-list Maikel Garcia will probably return to the injured list just three days after returning after an absence of almost two months.
