Roswell retail theft operation leads to 29 arrests
Police say the suspects targeted more than 100 businesses and sold stolen goods through social media and private sales.
- On Tuesday, Prince George's County police announced the arrest of six suspects connected to an organized retail theft ring that stole more than $500,000 in merchandise from at least 100 businesses across Maryland, Virginia, the District, Pennsylvania, and Delaware.
- The investigation began in February of last year after retail thefts in the county; the department formed the Organized Retail Theft Task Force in February 2026, expanding the case across multiple jurisdictions.
- Police recovered approximately $20,000 worth of merchandise during Monday's simultaneous execution of six search warrants, as suspects allegedly sold stolen goods via social media and took orders before committing thefts.
- At least three of the six defendants face both state and federal charges under enhanced Maryland laws, with police expecting five additional arrests in the organized retail crime investigation.
- County Executive Aisha Braveboy stated the arrests send "a clear message to those organizations," while Police Chief Malik Aziz Nader emphasized authorities will not tolerate such activity in Prince George's County or the state.
