Next Rocket Classic Will Be the Last, Leaving Michigan without Stop on PGA Tour
Rocket Companies declined to extend its sponsorship, ending the Detroit PGA Tour event after 2026 following a 13-year run, officials said.
On Tuesday, tournament director Mark Hollis announced the Rocket Classic will conclude after the 2026 event, scheduled for July 30 through August 2, as Rocket Companies declined to exercise its sponsorship option for 2027.
Rocket Companies concludes its 13-year PGA Tour title sponsorship, including eight years in Detroit, after the tournament struggled to draw marquee players and maintain consistent attendance in recent years.
The tournament invested more than $10 million into local charities, including $6 million to the Changing the Course initiative, which helped 162,000 Detroit residents connect to affordable connectivity programs.
PGA Tour leadership stated there is "ample interest" for a future event in the Detroit metro area, though the tour currently lacks a confirmed sponsor or venue for 2027.
Michigan's golf schedule faces uncertainty as the Ally Challenge contract expires in 2026 and LIV Golf's future remains unclear, leaving only two LPGA events confirmed for the state's calendar.
