Rob Reiner honored in 78th Emmy Awards In Memoriam by Jamie Lee Curtis
On Monday, actress Jamie Lee Curtis delivered an emotional tribute to Rob Reiner at the 2026 Emmy Awards, invoking his iconic "Meathead" character from All in the Family as she honored the late filmmaker.
Reiner secured a posthumous Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series earlier this month for his performance as consultant Albert Schurr in The Bear, making Emmy history even after his death.
The win established a record of 48 years for the longest gap between acting Emmys, surpassing the 37-year record previously held by his father, Carl Reiner, making this his third Emmy win.
Alongside Reiner, the In Memoriam segment honored Dolly Parton and Catherine O'Hara, featuring a performance by Noah Kahan and tributes to industry figures including Cheers co-creator James Burrows.
Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, died in December 2025 in Brentwood, Calif.; their son, Nick Reiner, faces first-degree murder charges and is held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility.
