Ionia High School teacher Jennifer Johnson successfully proposed a new elective class for special education students at Monday's Ionia Public Schools Board of Education meeting. The new class is called RISE, an acronym for resiliency, integrity, strength and empowerment. The only cost associated with the new class was the $320 purchase of 20 student workbooks, which each cost $16.
