Ripple Secures Final OCC Approval for National Trust Bank
The approval lets Ripple expand regulated custody and trust services as it builds digital asset infrastructure under federal oversight.
On Monday, Ripple announced that its national trust bank, Ripple National Trust Bank , secured final approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency , completing the chartering process that began with conditional approval in December 2025.
Unlike standard commercial banks, national trust banks do not accept deposits, make loans, or carry Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation insurance; they focus on holding and managing assets for clients.
RNTB is authorized to manage reserves backing Ripple USD , act as collateral trustee, and provide digital asset custody services; RLUSD will continue to be issued by Standard Custody & Trust Company, regulated by the New York Department of Financial Services.
Ripple stated, "We've always said crypto and banks work better together," emphasizing that the approval adds federal oversight reinforcing the company's commitment to regulated financial systems.
Circle secured final OCC approval in July, while other crypto firms including Coinbase, Crypto.com, and Stripe-owned Bridge remain at the conditional approval stage.
