NASCAR Race at Talladega Was Stopped After Joey Logano's Car Goes Airborne in Scary 15-Car Wreck
On Sunday, October 25, 2026, the NASCAR Cup Series YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway was red-flagged after a massive 15-car pileup sent three-time champion Joey Logano's car airborne and onto its roof.
With five laps remaining, Carson Hocevar bumped Logano in the tri-oval, causing the Team Penske driver to lose control and slide across the track into the oncoming field.
After exiting the wreckage, Logano told NBC Sports he was "just happy to be alive," crediting NASCAR safety improvements and the roll cage for protecting him during the impact.
Championship leader Kyle Larson won the overtime finish, crossing the line four-hundredths of a second ahead of teammate William Byron, while several competitors sustained damage in the incident.
Two races remain in the NASCAR postseason, with the series heading to Martinsville Speedway and Homestead-Miami Speedway as drivers compete for the championship following the dramatic Alabama event.
