Scott On Re-Writing The Next "Alien"
Scott says the sequel will continue the Covenant storyline and bring back Michael Fassbender as the AI droid, with writing and producing now leading the project.
- Filmmaker Ridley Scott confirmed earlier this week he is "rewriting the next Alien film," which will conclude his prequel trilogy including Prometheus and Covenant , with Michael Fassbender's Walter One returning.
- Scott's lukewarm reassessment of Romulus apparently convinced him he had unfinished business with Alien; the Romulus sequel script is being reimagined as a Covenant follow-up, with Fassbender's David remaining central.
- Scott said he has a "footprint" for the film, picking up where Covenant left off with Fassbender's android who now thinks he is "Ozymandias." David is creating a "brave new world for himself," Scott noted.
- The long-dormant Awakening remains in development, according to Scott. Century Studios President of Production Steve Asbell shot down cancellation reports, simply stating "Nope."
- At 88 years young, filmmaker Ridley Scott remains highly active in pursuing multiple projects. His latest film, The Dog Stars, opened this week to some of his career's weakest reviews.
