Roughriders Look to Solve Red-Zone Woes Against Visiting Stampeders
Saskatchewan has scored on 60% of its red-zone trips over the last four games and can clinch a playoff berth with a win Friday.
On Friday, the Saskatchewan Roughriders face the Calgary Stampeders at home, where a victory clinches a playoff spot for the 8-6 team trailing first-place Edmonton in the West Division.
The Stampeders have won 10 of their last 11 visits to Regina, a streak that equals their longest there dating to 1947–1949. Calgary quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. threw for 422 yards and three touchdowns Saturday.
Scoring efficiency has recently faltered; Saskatchewan's red-zone touchdown rate dropped to 60 per cent over the last four games after posting 72 per cent through their first 10.
Saskatchewan reacquired kicker Brett Lauther from the Ottawa Redblacks on Wednesday for a fifth-round 2027 draft pick, though rookie Dawson Hodge will handle kicking duties Friday.
Riders head coach Corey Mace emphasized the playoff implications, saying, "We know it's at stake, and we're at home with the ability to do that.
