Surveillance in the public space (or even in the own four walls) is becoming more and more a topic. This can be problematic especially if cameras are not clearly recognizable. Scientists from South Korea and Singapore, on the other hand, have developed a simple device to reliably detect hidden security cameras. It is a simple camera attachment called -SweepLED, which can theoretically be used for any smartphone.
Hidden cameras are increasingly popping up in well-planned places: hidden in pens, watches, chargers, or hidden in picture frames in hotel rooms and rented apartments, all with dishonest intentions. That's why KAIST researchers have developed a cheap and effective solution to uncover hidden devices. SweepLED turns any smartphone into a reliable hidden camera detector using an attachable LED case that costs less than $7 to assemble.
