Review: Chery Tiggo 7 SUV
The PHEV starts at £29,995 and offers 56 electric-only miles, while the SUV adds generous cabin space and standard equipment.
A year after arriving in the UK market, Chinese automaker Chery launched the Tiggo 7 SUV to challenge established rivals including the Kia Sportage and Nissan Qashqai.
Prices start at £24,995 for the entry-level 1.6-litre petrol variant, while the Super Hybrid PHEV costs £29,995 and the premium Summit trim reaches £32,995.
The PHEV features a 1.5-litre engine delivering a 745-mile potential range with 56 electric-only miles, while all Tiggos include two 12.3-inch displays and a 565-litre boot.
While body roll is well contained, the Tiggo 7's ride and handling lack precision compared to rivals, and cabin usability suffers from too many infotainment functions concentrated into small icons.
Overall, the Tiggo 7 makes a strong case as one of the market's cheapest plug-in hybrids, offering compelling value despite being less polished than established rivals like the Kia Sportage.
The Tiggo 7 represents Chery in the compact SUV class. It impresses with its affordable price, rich equipment, and emphasis on family travel. But what else?
